Book Reviews of The Choice

Book Review: Cover torn
Summary: 2 Stars

The description did not tell me that there was going to be a huge rip on the front cover, another small rip on the front, and alot of the pages were in bad shape.

Book Review: Cried again
Summary: 5 Stars

Well darn it Nicholas Sparks did it again. He made me cry at the end of another of his books. This one, as in all his others, is funny, tender, sweet and even a bit frustrating. Travis I absolutely loved and his laid-back attitude was very appealing. Gabby I had a little bit more trouble with because I thought she was a bit more tense and not quite as personable. But there I was wrong and they ended up having a wonderful, fulfilling marriage and family. Even with the near tragedy there was always hope and love. This is yet another winner for Nicholas Sparks. I'd give it two thumbs up.

Book Review: Definitely a Chick Read
Summary: 3 Stars

As you can see from the reviews, your gender will probably affect how you view this book. My first experience with this author and while I found the first half of the book where Travis and Gabby meet and go through the process of falling in love in a very entertaining fashion fun to read, the book is really somewhat thin gruel for the long haul.

There is little character developmnet, loose ends are not explained and the last part of the book which sets up the title is a bit on the tedious side if not somewhat incredulous in places.

Other than that....

Book Review: Definitely not what I expected
Summary: 3 Stars

So, I grab my box of tissues and settle in for what is inevitably going to be a tear-jerker. It has to be, Nicholas Sparks wrote it. I have come to look forward to the last chapters of his books because of the feeling I get when the emotions kick in. I feel like although this is- as always an excellent story, he copped out a bit in the end. It just didn't fit right to me. I admire Sparks' imagination and ability to spin a truly original story. This one time though, he let me down.

Book Review: Disappointed but still a Sparks fan
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a true Sparks fan and I am sad to say that I am disappointed in his latest work. It was enjoyable to read, as are all of his works, but I feel as though the story lacked a climax. As I read, I kept waiting for something to really happen. The ending of the story lacked emotion, and I was left wanting to know and feel more. I'm not saying don't read this book, because Sparks is an amazing author, but be aware that this book definitely does not add up to his previous knockouts.
