Book Reviews of The Christmas Box

Book Review: the most heartfelt book Ive read in a long time.
Summary: 5 Stars

When you think of how many great Christmas storys there are, for some its hard to put a finger on just one. Not for me. To me, this is THE Cristmas story. I've never read a book so touching. It practically melts your heart to read what Christmas is supposed to be. You instantly fall in love with the charachters from page one. So whenever Christmas comes around(whenever any time comes around) take the time to sit down in your favorite chair and enjoy the experience of an amazingly beautiful story.

Book Review: excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

This book reminds us what the true meaning of Christmas is. It was touching. I bought 5 more copies to give to friends for Christmas, so they can also reminded.

Book Review: Touching
Summary: 5 Stars

I re-read this book every year several times. I am a Child Care and Development teacher on the high school level and I firmly believe in the benefits of reading aloud to students no matter how old they are. I make time each year beginning on December 1 to read for ten minutes each day at the end of class to my grade 10-12 students. I feel it is important for the younger generation to be able to focus on the non material aspects of Christmas. By the time I finish reading the book to them around December 23, there is hardly a dry eye and hopefully a renewed understanding of what Christmas is all about.

Book Review: Pretty cover & great opening conceal lousy book.
Summary: 1 Stars

The book is seriously flawed, to say the least.

First it has a 4 year-old girl speaking in the voice of an adult. Why? Because the author wants to lay the wisdom of a child on us as the central theme of the book. It doesn't work. Sorry, but four year olds don't speak in complex sentences. That almost ruined it for me, but I figured, go ahead, maybe it won't make the same mistake twice.

There are other events, however, that are equally jarring. I can't provide details because they occur at crucial points in the plot. In my opinion, it's cheating to use unrealistic events in order to let a story reach the conclusion desired. Such techniques stink and rob readers of their time spent. Puleeze!!

I happen to LOVE touching Christmas stories that are done well. (I was a fan of "The Waltons," if that is any indication.) I almost threw this book across the room after finishing it, however, I felt so cheated.

Book Review: This book is a classic, beautiful story
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is beautifully written and sincerely moving. It did not make publishing history or claim the title as 'the Christmas Carol of the twentieth century' without reason. The reader who wrote that the four-year-old spoke in an adult voice clearly does not have children, or they would know better. I recommend this book to everyone who has ever loved a child.
