Book Reviews of The Chronicles of Narnia Box Set (adult)Book Review: Wonderful! Excellent! Superb! (if you like fairy-tales then you may read this review, if not, don't go any further) Summary: 5 Stars
The Chronicles of Narnia are beautifully written books. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read. I would strongly reccomend them to everyone. I have read them all seven times, and I still can't decide which is my favorite! People who don't like them surprise me. Not only are they wonderful fairy-tales, they also have a lot of underlying Christian themes.
In 'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe', Aslan's death is a beautiful, deeply moving, picture of Jesus' death. Of course, if you don't like fairy-tales, you don't need to read this review. But if you do, then after you read the review, you might want to check out the books at the local library. I would give them 10,000,000 stars if at all possible, and I do give them 2 thumbs up! Wonderful! Excellent! Superb!
Book Review: You want to read them again and again Summary: 5 Stars
I didn't expect to like these books; I don't care for fantasy. But these were more than that. I read them to my children years ago, and by the third book, I was hooked, too. We each have different favorites in the series.
C.S. Lewis does an excellent job in turning Biblical truths into epic, mythical stories. A danger of these books is that the stories are so engaging, you might read them instead of the Bible. I'm sure that wasn't Lewis' intention; rather it was to turn children onto Christianity with his understanding of it.
I would definitely recommend this collection for families. The collection is one of my 10 favorite children's books of all time.
Book Review: different editions of Narnia Summary: 4 Stars
I read the Lion and the Witch first, then Silver Chair, it was great, I did not like the fact tha Giant were cannibals, it was little creepy, but it was very enjoyable story, with many twists.
I would like to own a set of Narnia books but I am confused which one to get. My friend read all these books, he has this very old box that his mom read when she was small, all the books together.
I tried to look at many reviews of different sets, but people just keep talking about the books, nothing about the design of books, or illustrations. Especially one top reviewer, this solinas guy keeps posting the same review with EVERY edition, and not even with the same rating! isn't this cheating.
I think the box on this page is good, it's called adult edition so it could be better, I don't like these drawings that are made for kids. The price of this one is OK too.
If you figure out which set you want, you should read these books, this is very good fantasy with symbolic meaning. I think Tolkien is better but I really liked Narnia a lot.
