Book Review: Not great, but surprisingly addicting Summary: 2 StarsI picked up the book, with expectations that I would hate it and have an opportunity to write a review on a book that isn't great. Well, this thought wasn't complete wrong but I did find to like the book a lot more then I thought I would.
Massie was annoying and horribly shallow. I was disappointed that she didn't get more revenge against her. Her world was too perfect, and a person in my placement of this world, it felt completely unrealistic. Really, no house should have an intercome system. Not to mention how she is alway wearing designer clothes? It was extrememly hard to relate to her.
The rest of the clique? They're like the wind. My final opinion is that I do not like them. I let myself be open minded throughout the book, and despite the fact that you can see that they are real people and may have their hearts in the right place at times, they're still horrible character.
Alicia, is my least favorite. Rarely does she ever not act like a snob, and even worse, she never gets what she deserves. Even when its at the point where you might want to give sympathy to her, it is hard. More or less becuase she does not deserve it.
Dylan was probably my favorite of the clique girls. She was a little bit more real with her always munching away at some sort of food. Though she has eating disorder written all over her, the sign of being realistic was kind of a comfort. Plus I never thought of Dylan as a girls name, which I now find quite cute.
Finally, there is Kristian (I think I spellt this wrong, my appologies). My opinions are not very one way or another with her. She never seemed as bitchy as the other three and her "secret" further that within her.
Then of course, there is Clare. When first meeting her, she reminded me completely of myself when I was just a little younger then her. The blond hair with the bangs, powerpuff girl lunch box all painted the picture that I use to see in the mirror in front of me. This made it really easy to relate to her, which I believe is what the author was aiming for.
The storyline had some fun bounces in it. It flowed, it wasn't very deep, but it flowed. Through it was really dishearten by the loss of innocents within Clare. But hey, I'm reading a book about 7th graders. They're not going to be smart enough to make the right decisions. Also, I was deeply annoyed how everybody in the book was always lieing. Some do get punished for it, but I must question if it is healthy for younger girls to be reading a book where all the characters are chronic liars.
I will also warn, the ending is really anticlimactic. The meat of the book is much more interesting then the ending of the book. So do not expect much. This book was also a very light read. I was able to read it in about 5 hours.
Overall, I'd recommend this book if you have major patients for little kid drama and nothing better to do. It is annoying but for some reason, I could not put it down. But my advise, honestly, go read something better.
Book Review: Too Awsome!!! Summary: 5 Stars
For many reasons I think that The Clique by Lisi Harrison is a five star rating and its a great book and for young adults, also for people who like books that include a lot of drama in it. Two of the main characters in the clique are Massie Block and Claire Lyons. Claire and here family (mom, dad, Todd) move into the Block Estate guest house in Westchester, NY temporarily until they find a place of there own. But Massie Block and Claire Lyons have nothing in common and Massie in not that excited about Claire's stay. Claire is a laid-back-trying-to-fit-in kind of person while Massie is the most popular kid in school who gets anything that she wants. When Claire goes to Massie's school, OCD she wants to fit in and be friends with Massie's friends but Massie makes life impossible for here.
This book was a really good book to read and I thought that it was excited and made you want to read on and on. Lisi Harrison did a great job with this book and I think that some of the things that made this book so good were how it pulled you in and after one problem, there always comes another. My favorite character in the clique is Claire because she has a personality that stands out and I think that's what makes a person special. I also loved how Lisi Harrison made the characters have very unique personalities and also I liked how she made the characters realistic to relate to the readers. Overall this book was a great book and I defiantly recommend you to read it.

Book Review: Reveiw of the Clique Series: Entertaining but Materialistic: Approach With Caution! Thought of a 13 year old girl on the series: Summary: 2 StarsTHIS IS A REVIEW OF THE ENTIRE "CLIQUE" SERIES BY LISI HARRISON, NOT JUST BOOK 1.
This book is really entertaining, and is the perfect book for a girly teenager. But being a teenager myself (13) I would like to propose the many problems with this series that make it a bad influence on young adults who are growing into themselves and shaping their character.
1. Materialism: This book is so centered around clothing, it's astounding! Every couture outfit is described in detail, fancy shoes, designer bags, adorable accessories, and the most IN apparel. But is this the kind of thing you want a teenage girl to have in her head? As I got dressed the day after I completed this series, all I could think was "What would Massie say if she could see what I am wearing right now?" That was when the truth hit me: the price that Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen put on clothing is WAY too high. Girls are worried enough about their clothing-we don't need the Clique to raise the bar for materialism even more.
2. Wealth: These girls are the super-rich type; they have everything from a personal stylist to a massive mansion in Octavian County to a chauffeur to a pool to a chef and a housekeeper. At twelve and thirteen years old they have their own credit cards and shop for whatever they want whenever they want. What kind of girl grows up in a household in which money is not an object? Especially in this economy these girls are not setting a good example. For them, money grows on trees!
3. Weight: Dylan, one of the four stars of this series is always worrying about her weight. Even though she is pin-thin, she is always going on "diets" and trying to lose weight. She was overjoyed to have gotten the flu in one of the books because she knew she could lose a few pounds. In a society which already puts an enormous pressure on girls to be thin, is Dylan a good example for self-conscience teenage girl? No!!! On the back of the ninth book (Bratfest at Tiffany's) book, Dylan's section reads as like this:
"Dylan Marvil: Is so ready for boyfast. She's straightened her unruly red hair and is ready to permanently press boys out of her life. If only she could do the same with curly fries and caramel popcorn."
What kind of example is Lisi Harrison setting for girls of this generation?! This is a terrible thing to put into a girls head. How will girls feel when Dylan, who is skinny, calls herself fat? How will this influence girls to think positively about their bodies?
4. Language: Although this book is completely curse-free, it has another kind of language problem. Instead of writing "not" Lisi Harrison writes "nawt" Words like "amazing" are written "ah-mazing" and "hot" is "hawt" and "Claire" is "Cuh-laire!" Many other words are written to make the girls seem even more jappy. I have actually hear girls use "clique language" making them seem stupid and uneducated. Why would you want to talk like that?
The bottom line is, this book is entertaining and funny, but for you parents, I would advise you against letting your daughters read this book. If you are considering this book, approach it with caution. It will keep you interested, but is not a good influence. The first time I read this series, I loved it. Upon reading one of the books a second time, I realized how terrible it was for girls. Think before you buy this book! It might be funny and cute, but it will not set a good example!
Book Review: one of the best Summary: 5 Starsthis series is a great one...but this book is the best of all 15 of them..it takes place in la and the main charactors massie alisha and claire audition for a movie called dial l for loser and their adventures when they are there a really good book but read the other 5 first
