"The Color Purple" by Alice Walker is the most engaging, enthralling book I have ever read. It is spiritual, almost brutal with the sheer reality portrayed in her writing. It is simply the best book that I have ever read. It deals with racism, female genital mutilation, love, spirituality and pantheism in a touching and almost passionate way. This writer clearly engages with the themes that she thinks important. This book is definiately worth a read.
