My grandmother gave me the hardbound version of this series when I was a teenager, and I will always treasure the times we shared together discussing the stories. As an adult (with no daughter or grand-daughter), I always purchase two softcover sets every year and donate them to a local Christmas charity for kids. I hope to introduce a few young girls to the enchantment of "Anne of Green Gables" so that they, too, may share the stories with their daughters and grand-daughters someday.Book Review: Pefrect for a pre-teen girl

My daughter and I had watched all the Anne of Green Gables movies with Colleen Durhurst, and loved them. So I got her the first movie and the first book. When I saw the complete set I knew she would love it, and she has. Somethign about the spirit of this little girl is amazing for young girls to read about. And it helps that Anne is a girl who is smart and funny, who takes her family and her obligations very seriously. Something that can be lacking in our youth today, is present in the pages of these books. Book Review: The Ultimate Accolade

Ultimate and not hyperbole... The content of these books has been thoroughly aird by others. I'm buying another set because my (21 year old) daughter noted that she did not have a set, that she vividly remembered that I read these books (among many many others but these specifically) to her, that they had contributed with clearly remembered significance to her becoming an avid and joyful reader and that she one day wanted me to read them to her children.
