Book Review: Saved My Life and Helped Me Lose 9 lbs. in 8 Days!

I've had Type II Diabetes for about 2 years. I *thought* it was under control. In fact, my testing showed about 6 months ago everything was normal. So, I discontinued my medicine. MISTAKE! 10 days ago my blood sugar skyrocketed to over 300 and medication wasn't taking it down. I had to do some fast damage control and this was one of 3 books I bought. IT IS FANTASTIC - just like all the 5 star reviews have said.

While I got the book for health reasons - part of which is to lose weight - it is ideal for anyone who wants to feel better and drop some pounds. I have lost 9 lbs. in 8 days. I've had no sugar (soda, sweets, etc.) and have selected only the low GI carbs. I FEEL GREAT! I no longer have the afternoon slumps, I sleep better, and I'm eating more food than ever before.

Honestly, it's not that hard to follow. The author gives you lists of foods and explains everything. I was fascinated by the 'free foods' as well as why acidic foods work with sugar levels. It's just full of great information - non of which I've ever found on the internet or elsewhere.

Now...if you think you cannot tear yourself away from anything sweet, read the book. You can eat sweets (like dark chocolate) as long as you limit the quantity/volume based upon the glycemic load. Honestly, once you haven't eaten sugar for even a few days and you get over the withdrawal, the minute you eat/drink something with sugar in it, you'll be shocked at how sweet it is. Plus, your cravings for carbs stops. I know: I didn't believe it either but now I want to scream it from the rooftops. Now, if you really really really have to have sugar, search for some low GI desserts. (I bought a cookbook that waffles and pancake recipes for breakfast, as well as some wonderful desserts.)

I have already sent this book to a friend who has been told to lose 30 lbs. by her doctor. I take the book with me everywhere - even the store. I highly recommend it...for the content, the manner in which it's conveyed, and upbeat style.
