Book Review: A Great Guide To Concealed Carry

This is a very thorough treatment of the defensive use of handguns and concealed carry. It should be read by everyone who has a concealed carry permit or is considering obtaining one.
It does a great job of covering both the why and the how of carrying a handgun for self defense. It starts off with the critical element of the reasons that anyone would/should carry a weapon. He reviews cases where guns have been used effectively and others where they could have been. The high profile mass murders at Virginia Tech and the Luby's Cafeteria are among those profiled. In addition, there are numerous case studies of little known incidents where lives have been saved by concealed carry permit holders.
Along with the reasons why one may want to carry, Chris Bird does a thorough review of types of handguns (revolvers vs. semi automatics), calibers, holsters, training, legal issues and much more. He discusses various training resources and examines the relevant laws of every state.
In short, this is a fairly comprehensive handbook. I heartily recommend it to anyone who carries a handgun, is considering doing so, or is simply interested in the topic.
