Book Review: Excellent autobiography
Summary: 5 Stars

An excellent autobiography about growth, shame, the corrupt politics of the state of New Jersey and what it feels like to not be able to live like your true self. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes in our lives large and small, but Mr. McGreevey does a great job of baring his soul to us and informing us what caused him to do what he did. I learned so much in reading this book, and it left me emotionaly devastated to learn of how much pain a person goes through living in a world where they feel they need to be in a closet to have others respect and love them.
I believe that he first found true love with Golan Cipal, but that like many romantic relationships, it went sour. I was pleased to discover at the end that Mr.McGreevey has finally found the love of his life, his partner Mark.

Book Review: Interesting, but.........
Summary: 4 Stars

An interesting read. Compelling and emotionally involving. I truly commiserated with McGreevey. While I am not gay, as someone raised catholic I understood the catholic guilt aspect and really felt for him. My only problem with the entire book is that I wonder if McGreevy would have been willing to give up the charade if he basically didn't have that proverbial gun put up to his head.
As for his object of desire, I totally bought into his description of this appealing man until I saw him being interviewed on Larry King. Either the boyfriend Golan is the smarmiest liar on the planet or the biggest victim.

Book Review: GIVING GAY A BAD NAME
Summary: 1 Stars

Jim McGreevy came out on my birthday and, as a gay man and ex-New Jerseyan, it seemed like a major step forward for the movement. This biography shows it was not. The subject of his own autobiography, Mr. McGreevey comes off as self-serving, shallow and emotionally remote and as a consequence much of what he writes comes off as implausible, deceptive and, at times, outright false. Save your time and money.

Book Review: Interesting
Summary: 4 Stars

I knew Jim in Woodbridge and really liked him. I thought book was well written and enjoyed it. I thought some parts were a bit too legally or wordy written and some words I did not know there meaning (looked them up). I will probably reread the book.

Book Review: TOO POLITICAL
Summary: 3 Stars

The beginning of the book was very good but as it progressed it was just too much politics for me and not nearly enough about Mc Greevey's life!
