Book Review: Simply amazing. Heartbreaking. Inspiring.
Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far one of the best books on the issues of poverty, drug addiction and the failure of social services that I have ever read. But, more than that, it is the heart wrenching story of a family and neighborhood caught in the torpor of the inner city. I came to care about all of the people as though I knew them. And I finally began to understand the dynamics of drug addiction and why all of our well intentioned social programs (welfare etc.) will never save us. Awe inspiring.
