Book Reviews of The Crow

Book Review: A Love Story masterpiece
Summary: 5 Stars

It took me seven long years to finally find this novel. When I recieved it in the mail and openned it up, I was not dissapointed. As a matter of fact, this is the only piece of art (movies, books, etc.) that has ever really made an impression on me.

The story is a classic love and revenge story. Man and woman who are deeply in love are both murdered and man comes back to life to avenge their murder. However, James O'Barr has written this story with such a passion(this story is loosly based on his own personal tragedy). It's as if he bleed his soul on paper and put it into book form.

However, this book should be read with a slow pace. It is easy to miss some of the smaller things in this book. I made the mistake of reading it fast. I went back and read it slowly and it was five times better.

A must read if you are into a. Comics b. Love Stories or c. Poetry

Book Review: A vision of wonders.
Summary: 5 Stars

So you open the cover, viewing already some magnificient artwork. Then there's the foreword. A touching thing to enter J. O'baar's graphic novel with. Then, flip of the page, and we have a memeralia for Brandon Lee, our friend whom died in the making of the moving. Generously, it's nice.

This story is a fine line on wonder, and mystere. Sadness, and despair. The whole imagery has a kind of emotion to it. Generally, I recommend this book for ages 16 and up.

I loved it.

Summary: 5 Stars

Book Review: True
Summary: 5 Stars

"The Crow" has become a phenomena for three reasons. First, it's a story that anyone with a mind can enjoy (and even some who dont). Second, it is a classic story. And Lastly, even in it's classic basics, the twists inspire new thought and question to the human emotions and mind. Even the artwork itself is marelously done. Many thanks and props to James O'Barr for bringing this vision to the world.

Book Review: The Crow
Summary: 5 Stars

Well I read a review from a person who didnt like this book and from what the person said I decided to write my own. They said something of only 16 year old goth punk rockers to be interested in it and well I am 18. I think that this comic is the best ever written. If you read the introduction you will notice that the person writting the intro mentions that the writer, J. O'Barr, has lost a loved one so you can tell that when he writes this comic it is from his heart. I acctually saw the movie with Brandon Lee first. This is the best movie ever. Now back to the book itself. As you should know it is about love and revenge. A young man, Eric Draven, and his girlfriend, Shelly Webster, are murdered.....well Shelly was but Eric survives just to die afterwards in the hospital. He then is brought back one year later from the night he was murdered by the crow. Hence he is the crow. The crow guides him to seek vengance for what happened to him and his girlfriend. Now more than just a revenge story, it has a depth to it. Sure it is dark and violent but it also has a little light. Like when Eric remembers the good time he had and the reason why he is killing the others. Now as for the guy who thinks it is for 16 goths and such I think the total opposite. I think it is for anyone who wants to read something that will acctually pull you into it. I personally felt a little sad thinking of what happened to Eric even if it was fiction. I just enjoyed the entire book. To tell you the truth it is up to the person who reads it. Some people will like it others wont but one thing is for sure, its a good comic.
