Book Reviews of The Devil Wears PradaBook Review: Boring moaning Summary: 1 StarsI purchased this book because I read a good review, and because it was supposed to be about Anna Wintour. I personally was intriqued to have an insight of my own industry in huge scale, and one of its biggest names. Maybe it was about her, but if I would've written this I would've been bored to death. The character development is very poor; non existing in matter of fact. The book would've been much more enjoyable if even the main characters would've had little hint of soul in them and cut the annoying whining and repeating of the same issues, over and over again,to half. The book is pretty much about endless lists of labels and consumed food/drinks. -- Of course only about the most famous labels; some even written wrong- so much for the professionalism. The book is ok as itself, easy reading, yet complitely unneseccary and waste of paper. If you enjoy 391 pages of constant moaning (and poor writing) this book is for you.
Book Review: Mixed feelings... Summary: 3 StarsI wanted to read this book for some time now because it seemed to be quite a success.
I've just finished reading it and I still don't know what to think of it. I couldn't enter the story right away, because I didn't like the writing, but eventually, I ended up reading the whole book. There were times when I couldn't enjoy the story anymore, because some passages were too long and there was no room for imagination (we don't need to be described every single thought of the character!) But at other times, there was enough action for me to be caught in again.
I wouldn't say this is a funny read (quite an aweful story actually!) but it's worth a try.
Book Review: Delightful, but sometimes off... Summary: 4 StarsWhat Would You do if your Heaven-Sent job turned out to be a Living Hell? What I would do, I would be like Andy and prove that I'm tougher than the others. I kind of enjoyed this adult read, even though it went on-and-on sometimes. I didn't really care for all of the "curse" words in it, sometimes it was funny reading them and who Andy was saying it to. I also didn't like the insult Andy spoke about Harry Potter "The fourth book in that wretched Harry Potter series was due to be released the next day, a Saturday, and Miranda's ten-year-old daughters each wanted one." I didn't enjoy reading that about Harry Potter because I enjoy reading that series, but I read on. This is a must for any person who loves fashion. I'm not a huge fan of fashion, but this sparked me. What really interested me about this book was that I saw the preveiws of the movie on television. I love Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, so I wanted to see it. But, I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie when it came out. I can't wait to see how the movie is like, I hope it is like the book but a little different.
Note: This book goes on-and-on sometimes and may leave you bored with it. But, don't drop it but finish it. Even though it was kind of long, I didn't give up on it and I liked it. I didn't love it to give it "Five" stars, but I liked it enough to give it "Four" stars.
Hope you enjoy!

Book Review: Really enjoyed it ! Summary: 4 StarsI have just fifnished reading this and I couldn't put it down. A great book if you have ever have a terrible boss or think that your job is insane. This book makes you realise that your job is not that bad. It's great fun reading about each ridiculous task that Andy is made to perform by her evil boss. If you liked 'The second assistant' you'll love this.
Book Review: Entertaining Escapism Summary: 4 StarsI was really surprised to read all the so-so reviews about this book. I picked it up in an English Bookshop in Spain, needing something light-hearted after Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and while I wouldn't dare compare the two books (the latter is a work of genius) I found The Devil Wears Prada a great book to lounge on the beach with.
It tells the story of Andrea Sachs, a college graduate who lands a job as personal assisstant to Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of fashion bible Runway. Andrea has no interest at all in fashion, and takes the job as a stepping stone to serious journalism. However, Miranda soon proves to be the boss-from-hell. Taking on this job drains Andrea's soul as she loses contact with the outside world, casting aside her family, friends and boyfriend in order to meet Miranda's outrageous demands.
While I would hesitate to call the novel funny, it is a larger-than-life look at how people sell their souls to the workplace and their bosses. It is difficult to comprehend the tasks that Andrea is asked to complete, and if indeed the author's stint working for Anna Wintour was anything like this, I feel sorry for her! It is not a masterpiece of prose fiction; however it is an easy read and perfect escapism from what we all think to be a tough old life. I can see why it has been made into a film - think Bidget Jones with a touch more sarcasm trying to totter around in 6inch Jimmy Choos with a tray of Starbucks coffee in one hand and a takeout lunch in the other, and that is Andrea Sachs. I have awarded it 4 stars because it was a light hearted, easy read, perfect for a holiday.
