This is probably the least favorite book on food I own. I just don't understand the purpose. I would much rather consult one of my master books like Larousse Gastronomique to look something up. This book is light on content and simply an alphabetical compendium of sophomoric definitions. A new cook might like this book, but anyone with significant culinary experience will be likely disappointed.
