Book Review: Environmentalist Wine

Having read Conaway's other book on Napa, which covers valley history until the 1990s, I found this book to be a bit of a disappointment. Other than the first few chapters this book focuses mostly on the environmental movement in Napa Valley. Unlike, another reviewer stated I'm not sure how heavily biased this book is but I can tell you that the author clearly favors environmentalists -even if he doesn't portray them in the best light.
The book's main focus is machinations and the after math of a lawsuit brought about by the Sierra Club. While it is an interesting read it does become dry at times trying to follow all the behind-the-scenes action of who is teaming up with whom to taken on whomever. This book is not so much a recent history of the valley as it is reporting on local politics and environmental movements.
That being said this is a very interesting book. As a tourist there I had no idea all this stuff was/still is going on. You wouldn't know it by just walking around so it was interesting to read about what's really going on in Napa. I'd suggest this book if you've already read the first "volume".
