Book Reviews of The Field Guide (The Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 1)Book Review: Great bedtime story! Summary: 4 StarsI've been reading this to my boys as a bedtime story. My wife and everyone is now in listening to me read it. We love the story and illustrations. Can't wait to start book 2.
Book Review: A Mistery and excicting book Summary: 4 Stars The book the Field Guide is more of a mistery/action book. Since it is a series by the end of the book it leaves some suspense. This is the first series to "The Spiderick Chronicles". It is a book about three ordinary kids named Jared, Simon, and Mallory Grace. They moved into a new house which has mistory and history all over the place. Then they find a book that guides and tells them all about these creatures that they think are myths, but they are all wrong and will soon find out why.
Book Review: Short and Sweet--with much better things to come Summary: 3 Stars*I'd give this 3 1/2 stars if I could
It seems that this book is primarily for children, but the beautiful cover art as well as promising concept, along with an intriguing warning "go away, close the book, put it down, don't look" on the back of the book, all contribute to making this book a must-have for a fantasy reader.
This book has flaws, but not many; the story is told in a very `to-the-point' manner. Much of the story, in fact, seems to be have left to the other volumes. It will take the average reader an hour at most to finish this book-if I were writing the Spiderwick Chronicles, this `Book 1' would only be the introduction chapters. Imagine if "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" ended as soon as Harry discovered he was a wizard; it would have still been a promising book, but the lack of MORE story in these books makes $9 and change quite a large price for such a small volume. On the other hand, it's nice to have a short little story, the only problem is the price.
Despite all of this, the little bit of story that IS told in this book makes me immediately ready for Book Two. My first thought after reading this tale was not "what a great story!" it was "I wish I had the next volume." Although Spiderwick Chronicles is a very intriguing story, with a promising concept, and likable characters, it is only the beginning!
I can't wait to read Book Two.
Book Review: An Exciting Adventure Summary: 5 StarsSpiderwick is a story about three children and their mother. Their mother gets divorced and they don't have enough money so their crazy aunt Lucinda gives them her house after she goes to an asylum. They meet fairies, goblins and other creatures along the way.
I am not going to tell you the ending but if you thought this book review was good then go out and get the BOOK!!!! I recommend it for people age 8-15 who like exciting adventures.
