Marvelous, excelent, so helpful, dynamic, very understandable, clear language, easy to read book!!! It is a classic, in my opinion, because its content is universal. Every effective teacher posseses the same qualities, no matter where are they teaching at. For instance, I am a Mexican teacher. I am about to begin my internship or my first year as a bilingual teacher for kindergarten kids. As a teacher I have thought a lot about my students. Even though I haven't meet them yet. I want to be sure that I am prepared. I want to be not only a good teacher, but an effective one. A teacher that makes the difference in the classroom. I was pretty nervous though, on how to begin my first school day, what to say, what not to say, how to gain my student's respect? Is it going to be easy? Am I going to achieve the goal to make my students learn? Am I having the wrong or the good picture about being a teacher? How to begin?No body have taught me that. I needed to figure it out by myself. So I did. I found this book: "The First Days Of School: How To Be An Effective Teacher"
by Harry K. Wong; it ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS. The attitude that a teacher MUST have, Tips, recommendations, advices. Do not take it as a pedagogical method, because it is not. It is a formula that has worked in many occasions with many teachers around the world. It is not magic. It is the attitude that an EFFECTIVE TEACHER must possess. It is about being a good classroom manager, and it is about having high expectations of all of your students. All those elements are the content of this book: KNOW HOW and You will succeed. Excelent book! Helpful enormously! Thank you to all the people that share their possitive experiences with new commers like me. Specially, I'm so thankful to Mr. Wong for creating such an extraordinary book.
