I enjoyed this book tremendously. I had Harry K. Wong for an instructor in Biology more years ago than either of us would care to admit. When I saw the book I had to get it. I am a middle-aged woman getting her teaching license and I needed help in beginning a career so late in life. This book has given me confidence and resources to get and keep me going.Book Review: The one book that no teacher should every be without!

Even though I have been in the classroom as a substitute teacher, teacher assistant and now have my own classroom, this book has been the BEST book I could ever have. This was given to new teachers at our orientation sessions and it answers every question you could possibly have about the first days of school. You can turn to any chapter,for example, say you have a question about how to set up your roll book for grades. Turn to the chapter, read ( and it is easy reading), and set up your grade book. There is so much I could say about this book, that it would take too long! Please take the time and invest in this book! Even if you are a veteran teacher, this is the ONE! I went to see Dr. Wong speak last fall and it inspired me to go home and read the book cover to cover. I have NEVER read anything so concise and useful!!!! This articulate book easily explains how to be an effective instructor. This is the most important book on my bookshelf! And the most useful. As principal of a middle school in New Jersey, I gave every teacher in my building a copy of Harry Wong's book. It is absolutely the best in detailing daily classroom management and teaching activities that will create a positive learning environment. Every teacher needs this book!!
