This book is full of no-nonsense and to the point information. I have a lot of experience and recently changed grade levels. This book helped me to refocus and remember classroom management strategies from the student's perspective. I think we sometimes get stuck and need a "push" to remember to do things like give clear expectations all the time. If you don't the students will make up their own rules. You must provide them with clear expectations constantly. If you are a new teacher, you definitely should read this book. If you are a seasoned teacher read this book and remember why you are in the education business. This book tells you what to do and what doing the wrong things will look like. That is the best part. Don't wait until an administrator tells you that you need to work on your classroom management!Book Review: Wow!

The Wong's simplify and explain many aspects of teaching. The book provides very concrete examples and specific practices that can be implemented in the classroom well before the students arrive on the first day. Rookie and veteran teachers alike can increase their "effectiveness" by taking advantage of their practical suggestions. Suggestions include classroom set-up, appearance, and classroom management. As a rookie teacher, this helped me tremendously! A few veteran teachers have even borrowed my copy to refresh and reinvigorate their approach to teaching. A must have reference for all teachers. I am an Elementary Education major, and my college required me to read this book before beginning my Student Teaching experience. It was recommended to me before that, though, by an acquaintance I met in Kentucky while I was on a trip. She highly promoted it as a must-have, and after reading it I heartily agree with her. There is tons of practical information in this book, and it's convenient as well as easy to use. This is a book that is sure to greatly help new teachers get started!!! Enjoy!! =)
