Book Reviews of The Five Love Languages of ChildrenBook Review: The World Needs So Much More Love Summary: 5 StarsThis is the most excellent book ever! Every parent should read it and then live it! Our kids live in a world without love and so many of them are going wacko on us. You need to be able to communicate love to each one of your children in the way they understand it best. This is a must read for everyone!
Book Review: quick easy read, yet great info Summary: 4 StarsThis book made a lot of sense as it described the 5 ways the people in my life (not just my children) give and receive love. As a busy at-home mother of 3 that are age 3 and under, I am already formulating little ways throughout the day to efficiently make my children feel loved that won't keep me from getting my daily work done! It includes a brief chapter on the single-parent household and also one of a typical marriage and how our children learn to behave as adults from us.
I was disappointed in the small amount of info on how to effectively discipline based on which love langage a child is - it basically says 'don't use the love-language of that individual child or they'll think they don't love you instead of just being disciplined', such as don't spank a physically affectionate child and don't speak harshly to a "verbal" child. I was hoping for more alternative ideas that can be effective for each child based on their love-language.
Book Review: Very helpful and insightful Summary: 5 StarsI found this CD very interesting. Great to listen to in the car on the way home after dropping the kids to school. I immediately recognised that my son needs touch to feel loved. I have now added extra hugs, touches on the shoulder and head and more body contact in general with my 8 year old son. It has had amazing success. He seems more content and happier within the family. I love these types of insights as I am always striving to be the best parent that I can be. Simple yet insightful advice like this is always so helpful and appreciated coming from someone so experienced and willing to share their experience to help me to be a better parent!
Book Review: Fantastic parenting book Summary: 5 StarsThis is one of those books that will help with parenting by understanding your child better. Share with other parents when you are done!
Book Review: great bok for all parents Summary: 5 StarsAs a family counselor, I recommend this book to parents to help them better understand their children.
