The Foods and Wines of Spain by Penelope Casas Summary and Reviews
Book Reviews of The Foods and Wines of SpainBook Review: foods and wines of SpainI have had this book for over 20 years and if I had to choose 1 book out of my recipe collection of 200 which I could not live without, this would be that book. I am on my third copy as I have used the others so much they needed replacing. The recipes are chosen from restaurants in Spain and I always check the area I am visiting so that I can compare my cooking with the original or find new restaurants . I have never been disappointed.I have tried stunning food in Barcelona, Madrid, the Basque country including Bilbao and the Pyrenees to name but a few. I give my mother in law who is Spanish, recipes from this book when she tries some of the food I cook and she is a blunt person who always tells me what she doesn't like! She has never disliked the recipes in this book. Recipes range from Basque scrambled eggs (which I didn't think I'd need a recipe for but were stunning and deliciously different) to Fish and Chicken and Pork tapas and main dishes, home made chorizo sausages etc -I could carry on all day. A stunning book I could not be without.
