Book Review: Not My Favorite Book By Iles
Summary: 3 Stars

I give it 3 stars because while I don't agree with the views of God that are portrayed and the fact that I'm not a big science fiction reader, I still think the overall storyline is interesting. This was my second novel by Iles, and after reading 24 Hours, this was kind of a let down.

Book Review: Footprints of God Honors Review
Summary: 5 Stars

Footprints of God, I thought was a great book. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and it was a definite page-turner. The mix between science and religion was really well done, and Greg Iles also made it seem like it could actually happen. Before I started reading the book, I had very low expectation for it because it was another book that was recommended by the school, and most of the time those books are not very interesting. But I will be the first to admit that I was dreadfully wrong in that assumption, because this book was a knockout. My expectations were met and exceeded. I think that one of the greatest strengths of this book was how Greg gave the reader the perspective of what was going on through Tennant's eyes, and the Trinity people's eyes. This aspect of the book kept the reader excited about what was happening next because there was never a dull moment. The biggest weakness of this book was perhaps its tendency to stay on what topic and elaborate on it for too long. Sometimes they would talk about his delusions for example, for pages and pages and occasionally it got boring. But for the most part, I couldn't put down this book. Greg Iles is a great writer, and I would read any piece of literature by him again in a heartbeat. His style of writing really flows and it is not choppy or confusing. He makes a very complex subject, very easy to understand through his clear explanations and the fluidity of his writing. I would recommend this book to anyone that can read, or even if you can't, maybe someone could read it to you. It is definitely worth it! Most of all, I was fascinated by the concepts that Iles was able to come up with. First of all, the idea of a quantum super computer that could crack any code and perform nearly impossible tasks within seconds was fascinating. Second, the idea that the human brain can be used by itself to make decisions and answer questions without needing a body is incredible. Iles had an extremely large imagination and he put all of his crazy thoughts into this book, and it turned out magical. After I read this book, I came away with a positive feeling. I started to think more about God, and what he is capable of. I wondered if we have only seen a little of what God can do, and if he hasn't shown us anything yet. I loved this book, and I think that you will too.

Book Review: FOOTPRINTS OF GOD, NOT THE BEST FROM ILES
Summary: 3 Stars

This was my third Greg Iles book, before i read Black Cross and Turning Angel. I had a big surprise when I first read Black Cross and that made me go for another Iles book (turning). I love Iles writing style, which I think its freash and doesnt compare to that of Crichton or D. Brown. While for some people the excess of "thoughtful passages" and "street philosophy" in his writing is a downfall I totally consider these elements to be his strenght. I had to do some research to find out which Iles novel I would tackle next and everything seemed to be pointing at "Footprints of god" as a good choice.
I have to admit that Footprints of god did not meet my expectations. The novel lacks the estructure, pace and spirit that in my opinion make turning angel so much better than this book-just to give an example.
F.O.G has been publicized as a "grab-you-by-the-neck" start, and I totally dissagre with this notion, the book really starts at page 80. Before that you have little or no idea whatsoever about why you are reading the book.
The middle section of the novel is a continuous cat-and-mouse-chase that seemes to never end, and nearly bores to death. The details regarding the Trinity project are unveiled at a turttle-pace and it makes it really difficult for the reader to engage with the novel. You are just kind of wondering "why should I keep reading it"

Fortunately, the effort seems to pay off during the last 150 pages where the complexities of Trinity and the protagonist's dreams clearly unfold. The computer takes over the action and you are grabbed by the author, it is at this point that F.O.G really turns out to be UNPUTDOWNABLE.

I think this is not by far the best novel by Iles, I also think that this is not a bad imition of Crichton as Iles gives the novel his own style, I do think that the middle chapters are boring and repetitive.

I give 3 stars because Iles gives an excelent final part of the book (last 150 pages) that can really make you think a lot about the very foundations of society. Good Plot, average execution

Book Review: Philosophy has rarely been so thrilling
Summary: 5 Stars

Greg Iles is a very cool author. I say this not just because he writes taut, intelligent thrillers that assure you're going to miss your train stop, but also because he's that rare author who writes true stand-alones. Where for many authors stand-alones are simply new courses through familiar territory, Iles is constantly pushing farther, trying his hand at everything from historical suspense to complex crime to speculative fiction.

The Footsteps of God is the latter, a rumination on the intersection of religion and technology involved in the creation of a fearsome artificial intelligence. Of course, things go awry, and because Iles is very good, the situation grows very bleak indeed. But the suspense stuff is really a backdrop for an exploration of some fascinating philosophical questions, and that's where the real joy comes in.

Book Review: Keep and open mind...
Summary: 5 Stars

The book grabbed me on the first page. I wont get into the plot much but rather the stand point it made with the philisophical and meta-physical ideals. It offers an interesting and unique aspect about the nature of the universe and ultimatly who and what "God" is. But it is by no means a religious book. Some Christians would be likely to call the idea blasphemous. Other than that the plot is interesting and nicely written. It involves a super computer that can rival man kinds intelligence and ultimatly holds the world hostage. I would reccomend it for people who seek knownledge and ideals about what I said at the beginning. If your not one of those people, its a good thriller full of action, suspense. Including an intense chase by the NSA.
