Book Reviews of The Front

Book Review: Bring it on!
Summary: 5 Stars

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book, having heard the buzz about it! It was as fabulous as my anticipation had assured me it would be. Having never read its predecessor, "At Risk", the characters were all new to me and I really enjoyed being introduced to them -- gotta love Nana! This is a quick read that moved by even faster because I lost track of my morning having gotten so into the book! I'd recommend it as a great read and I'm ordering "At Risk" now!

Book Review: CANNOT WAIT FOR THE MOVIE
Summary: 5 Stars

I read an article about how the Lifetime network was going to make movies out of two of Patricia Cornwell's books - At Risk and this book, The Front. Having been a fan for years of Scarpetta, I decided to give this other series a try - and I was happy I did. The plot is rich and has those involved, Win, a MA State Police Officer, his quirky grandmother Nana, the troubled District Attorney Monique, and the new, colorful character Stump, trying to solve real-time crimes, as well as a cold case with international implications. The characters colorful personalities really come out as they work on these endeavors and the narrative becomes even more ripe as relationships begin to unfurl. The book is faced paced and will make a wonderful movie. I hope the series continues.

Book Review: Can't Wait to read
Summary: 5 Stars

Looking forward to reading this - purchased several Cornwell books and reading them in order of date published. Excellent author!

Book Review: Cornwell Does It Again!
Summary: 4 Stars

I thoroughly enjoyed Patricia Cornwell's most recent novella, The Front. The story is fast-paced and has more than a few twists and turns. The characters were introduced in At Risk and I particulary liked the personality of the quirky character, Nana and her unusual way of communicating with her grandson, Win. Win is a Massachusett state police officer, and his position in the story will easily lead to more stories that will peak our curiosity--specifically, why is Monique Lamont so dastardly, and what makes Nana tick. A good, fast read; and I plan to read the future books in this series. F. Miner

Book Review: Cornwell Phoned This One In
Summary: 1 Stars

This book is just awful. Did Cornwell write this on her Blackberry? It just seems like something written for the text-messaging crowd. Her prose is anemic, her characters rehashed from the Scarpetta series, the story line is flat, and the sharp, detailed writing she has given us in the past is as stale as yesterday's Starbucks. And how many cops ride Ducati motorcycles? Honestly... Cornwell phoned this one in. She's just writing for retirement money now.
