Book Reviews of The Gate HouseBook Review: BORE-BARIANS AT THE GATE HOUSE Summary: 1 Stars
Nobody apparently ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the public. Perhaps that is why Nelson Demille is so damned wealthy. This sequel to Gold Coast isn't even worthy of being fool's gold. The characters are cartoonish, the plot is obvious, the outcome predictable, and the bloody book exceeds the weight of allowable airline baggage. Was there an editor on this one? Furthermore, just to correct a small point, John Gotti's wake WAS open to the public (I was there) the funeral was not. The mob antagonist in this tomb--I mean tome--was two dimensional. The protagonist, Sutter, is an insufferable idiot with an internal wisecrack every three lines. There was no drama here, no caring about the cut out cardboard characters. All and all, Gate House is so bad, it will probably be a best seller forever.
Book Review: BORING BORING BORING Summary: 1 Stars
Waste of time... 677 pages of soap operat junk.... I have loved his other books... sorry I wasted my money on this one...
Book Review: Boring Summary: 1 Stars
I have loved all of Demille's work but this one is a real dud. In a nutshell, its basically, drinks on the patio with the Sutters, hanging out at the funeral home with the Sutter's and hanging at the Club with the Sutters. The plot in thin to say the least and you will wade through hundreds of pages waiting for something happen. Im not giving up on Nelson though, and look forward to his next thriller. Lion's Game 2 please...
Book Review: Boring Summary: 1 Stars
Oh, Mr. DeMille, what have you done! I cannot believe I trusted the hype and purchased this book. I've enjoyed his other books, but this is a waste of time....and money. Mr. DeMille, please write a book you can be proud of, not just one to make money.
Book Review: Boring Summary: 1 Stars
I've read all of Nelson DeMille's books and this may be the last. The first 250 pages retells the story of The Gold Coast over and over. The rest of the book just coasts along with not much happening except a lot of drinking and screwing. Then in the last few pages the two main plot lines quickly resolve themselves in a hard to believe finish. Skip this one!
