My personal view on religion (as an agnostic) is that it is NOT something that should be quantitatively defined and logically "proven". It is something that is viscerally experienced, something that you take on as a matter of faith. By trying to justify why you believe in religion through appeals to "proof" and rationality you move further away from that religion. To explain my quote, to prove something exists or not you must define what that thing is. Kierkegaard argues that god can not be objectively defined, only subjectively experienced. Because you cannot define god, you cannot prove whether or not he exists. Thus, truth is subjectivity.
By the way, for those keeping score, it's well known that a historical flood of a fairly large magnitude was mythically recorded in many ancient cultures, such as texts by the Sumerians, before the appearance of the bible. Now, whether that means these myths and records were culturally assimiliated into the bible - the same way pagan rituals and symbolism were assimiliated into Christian holidays for easier conversion - or, on the contrary, that this is proof of multiple accounts of the same historical event, and therefore further proof that some sort of Great Flood did actually occur - I will leave up to your own interpretation.
