Book Reviews of The GiverBook Review: A Creepy but Good Book Summary: 4 Stars
The book is somewhat creepy through the idea of Sameness but delivers the message of individualism and courage. I would recommend this book to everyone who thinks you need to be society to be part of society.
Book Review: A Fable About The Value of Passion Summary: 5 Stars
A fable in which the "perfect society" has eliminated all conflict by eliminating things like color, music, and most things about which one could be passionate. The young boy coming of age discovers these things and tries to break away. It's a good story to get kids talking about what matters in life. What is worth fighting for. That all conflict is not bad. That passions make life worth living. Provocative.
Book Review: A Futuristic Book. Summary: 3 Stars
I really dont know, what I should think about this Book. It tries to question everything, which is normal for us. The Story is about Jonas, a 12 Year old Boy, who lives in a community, where trough to genetic control, Sameness is everything. The People who live their can neither see colours, nor love the person, they want to love. Families like we know them, dont exist, the people live in Family units, which are found together by the Elders. On his ceremony of 12, Jonas is chosen, to become the new Receiver of Memory. A person, who keeps all the Memories of the community about live and how live should normally, be. Its the only Job in the community, where you have something like a private sphere. As Jonas gets more and more memories about normal live. He is disappointed, and wants no more live in Sameness. He and The Giver, the old receiver of Memory, made a plan how to flee out of the community, and they escaped. On this way, Jonas gave the people back the possibility to have a normal live. If someone is interested in books like this, books which make you think about total control, I hardly recommend this book to them. In my eyes, it was Partly a little bit boring.
Book Review: A GOOD BOOK Summary: 4 Stars
I THINK THIS BOOK IS VERY INTERESTING AND I THINK U SHOULD READ IT
Book Review: A GREAT Book! Summary: 5 Stars
The Giver is about Jonas. When he is a Twelve (Twelve years old) his role in the community is to be the Receiver of Memory. The Giver (his "boss") gives him the memories of the past, like color, pain, war, love, and other things unavailable to their community. They both want the community to have those things, so Jonas does something no one else has ever done, with his friend Gabe. The ending is a little weird, but to understand more about it you should read Gathering Blue and Messenger, companions to The Giver. I recogmend this book for people 12 and older, though I read it at age 10 and recently re-read it.
