Book Review: Only useful in manufacturing? Certainly not!

Common sense, easy to read, but most of all in this book about manufacturing the author describes situations that can be identified in every process, not just in manufacturing. The scenarios he comes up with are certainly worth a few good thoughts as well. Therefor as a project manager in the business of software development I recommend this book. The only minus - which in my opinion cost this book its fifth crown - is the finish. I had the feeling that the author had finished his message and did not know how to finish the book. I was hoping for more excellent and sensible stuff though.Book Review: Couldn't put it down

I first heard about this book being a required text for an Engineering degree. The engineers loved it so much, they told their friends, and that's how I found this book. I am an exception, I took 2 days to read it, most people that I know didn't put it down until they finished it, staying up all night if necessary. Once you've read, you'll be an instant convert to the cause, it makes so much sense. Anyone with an interest in management MUST read this book.Book Review: A manufacturing management written as a story not a textbook

This book was recommended to me as part of my management degree at UMIST. It is a must for anybody with an interest in manufacturing and management. It deals with all sorts of manufacturing issues inventory / capacity / lean production etc but tells the tale in a novel based format that is exciting and meaningful. How many textbooks do you read, put down and then remember about 2% of ? This book ensures that you remember 90 % of the principles for years to come. Strongly recommended course book for "Industrial Management" and MBA courses at Edinburgh University. The novel although not particularly gripping, facilitates the understanding of managerial techniques and alternative approaches without having to plough through traditional texts. Certainly one to recommend, especially in industry.Book Review: Excellent for all manufacturing managers

This is a real must for all those managers (especially engineer managers) from any industry who are facing challenging tasks in keeping their factory running. It is also useful for successful managers who would like to improve their performance by reducing working capital which is scarce in many countries.
