Book Reviews of The GodfatherBook Review: An Offer You Can't Refuse Summary: 4 Stars
I think my review is biased by the greatness of the movie... in truth, Puzo isn't the most deft writer in history. But fans of the films will love the richer back story and additional characters that flesh out the broader tale of the Corleone family.
Book Review: As rich & satisfying as a great pasta sauce! Summary: 5 Stars
Think you know alot about the Corleone crime family from watching 'The Godfather' trilogy over and over again...? Hey, take it from me --- FUGGEDABOUTIT! This great book by Mario Puzo takes you inside "the family" in ways the movies couldn't. The characters of Don Vito Corleone and his sons Sonny, Fredo and Michael (among many others) are brought vividly to 3-Dimensional life here. The plot twists and turns through the ups and downs of their mafia life of crime are expertly handled. There isn't a single wasted page in the 440+. From the first page on, the reader knows they are in the hands of a master storyteller and it truly is one of those books that's really hard to put down. And when it ends, you really don't want it to. This is one of those remarkably rare books that was the fountainhead for countless films, tv shows and books that were inspired by it. It's like the characters, themes and settings have all literally taken on a life of their own! Guys like Tony Soprano would never have existed if it hadn't been for 'The Godfather'. Filled with great food, sex and violence it's no surprise why this book has been one of the best selling in all of publishing history over the years since it first came out back in 1969!
Book Review: Best lessons to learn for being prepared for real life Summary: 5 Stars
If you want something - go and get it, period. Or make an offer they can't refuse...
Book Review: Classic Crime Novel Summary: 4 Stars
Most have seen the movie - which follows the book pretty closely - but the book offers a bit more background and details of the Corleone family and their reach.
The book is pretty well written and keeps the flow of the story going - lots of side stories about minor characters that the book probably could have done without, but otherwise a great read (and even these side stories are interesting, and loosely tie in).
Book Review: Classic and Quite Real Summary: 5 Stars
