Book Review: --The constant struggle between good and evil--Dean Koontz style---
Summary: 4 Stars
I think that I may have read every book that this author has written. I like his prose and he always delivers an entertaining story! As expected, there is an evil killer, but Koontz always gives us the balance of a really good guy to counter the really bad guy.
Tim Carrier, the main character is sitting in a tavern having a beer when he's approached by a man who drops down an envelope full of money. The stranger says something like, "10,000 now and the rest when she's dead." Then he walks out. Tim, understands that he must look like the man who was hired to kill someone. Besides money, the envelope also contains a photo of a woman with her address written on it. Tim is still stunned when, within a short time, another man approaches and sits down. Tim knows this must be the hired killer. He tells the second man that he does not want to hire him, but will still pay him his fee. He hands the man the money, but without the photo. That man also walks out and Tim can't believe what he's gotten himself into.
I don't want to give anything else away, but suffice to say that the woman is likeable and Tim does what he can to try and save her life. The hired killer is as bad as you can imagine and also as smart.
Richard Ferrone read the book on tape and he made the story come alive with the characters.
