Book Review: A Beautifully Crafted Tale
Summary: 5 Stars
This book is beautiful, magical, and excellently crafted. :) We follow Ani, the crown princess of Kilendree, on her journey to the land of Bayern, where it's prince awaits her hand in arranged marriage. Yet, on their way, Ani and her few loyal bodyguards are uprooted and displaced by her jealous handmaid, Selia, and the disloyal, rowdy men who accompany her. Ani flees for her life and ends up in Bayern...but not as a princess. Selia has assumed her place and is preparing to wed the crown prince as her men search the land for Ani, with the intention to destroy. Ani is forced to change her name and hide among the forest dwellers, tending geese. While the story itself is captivating and intriguing, the real beauty lies in Ani, who becomes Isi, and her personal struggle. Suppressed and squeezed into the mold of princess all her life, though she fought at first, Isi now realizes the danger of her position, and her inability and unwillingness to know and do what is required outside of the palace walls. She overcomes her timidity and fear with a beautiful determination and strength, discovering hidden gifts inside her that add to the over-all excitement of the story. I'll stop here and hope that you too will journey into "The Goose Girl" to discover Isi and the ending of this beautifully crafted book.
