Book Review: more complicated variations on slow cooker meals

I came back to slow cooker use after a long break and found this really helpful as a reminder of the timings and liquid level rules etc. In rating this book highly, I should say that I work from home and so can 'fiddle' with things during the day. The reason I stopped using my slow cooker when I was working was that I never liked prepping food first thing in the morning before I left for work, now I generally do it at lunch time. I think its true what other have said about this book that you cant just throw everything in at once and have to do a bit of prep and adjusting, so if you want a no fuss book, this is not for you. However you do get a better product if you do more - eg you get more flavour if you brown meat before you put it in the pot. I havent tried everything in it by any means, but am intrigued to try 'baking' in a slow cooker as I've never done it before. I also have a bit of a problem with finding some of the ingredients for the Mexican section, but that's because I live in France where a chilli tends to be a chilli - I am hanging out to try the chicken mole as soon as I can get the ingredients. I will not be trying the risotto recipes as i cant see the point - stirring is an integral part of risotto making and it doesnt take very long anyway, so why bother?
