Book Reviews of The Grand Weaver: How God Shapes Us through the Events in Our Lives

Book Review: Just not well done
Summary: 2 Stars

I love Ravi. I agree for the most part with his basic premise here. I enjoyed some of the stories annecdotes.

But that being said reading this book was an awful chore that I had to slog through. Maybe it is just me; maybe it's the style it was written. I don't know what exactly it was, but I had a very hard time with this book. Not the concepts, or the material ... it just didn't capture me, I found it hard to plow through I didn't want to read it.

Book Review: Know the genre...
Summary: 3 Stars

I often read books by C.S. Lewis and A.W. Tozer, and Ravi Zacharias had written a rather succinct introduction to one of those author's books. I expected his book to therefore be similar. While it is a well written book, it is more inspirational in flavor than I typically prefer. If you are looking for a book similar to Max Lucado's style, with a little more theology and a little less story telling, this is probably a good fit for you.

Book Review: Nice book
Summary: 4 Stars

This book has its great moments and all right moments. This book is more suited for a the searching Christian than the searching student of philosophy. It is not his best book, but I would say his style has changed as he has gotten older. This book has a much more conversational tone then his previous works but it is still awkward at times. If you're a christian looking for a deeper understanding on how every aspect of your life is important to God or just a better understanding of your walk with God, this book is good to read. It is really good, as I said, for those Christians who have questions that need some light shown on the answers. You can look at the chapters to see what topics he deals with. The best chapters to me were the ones on disappointment, morality, spirituality, and will. The rest of the chapters were good but nothing that you should write home about. Every chapter is solid, but the few I mentioned really stood out as enlightening, clear, and distinct.

Book Review: Nicely Done
Summary: 4 Stars

Ravi Zacharias' The Grand Weaver is beautifully written (as are all his works) and full of profound insight. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that some of the stories in this book have either been used in some of his previous books or in his talks. Still, for those who aren't familiar with much of Ravi's work, these stories are a must-read. I highly recommend The Grand Weaver for those who already know the joy of reading his books, and most especially for those who are unfamiliar with them.

Book Review: Not his usual eloquent/poetic writing style
Summary: 2 Stars

I have most of Ravi Z. books, but I could not get into reading this one. The writing style is not like the other books except for Walking From East to West, which I could not finish either. Previous to these books, I enjoyed not only the content but the writing style, which in a way seemed almost poetic. I hope Ravi will return to writing in this manner, other wise I won't be buying his books anymore.
