Book Reviews of The Greek RuleBook Review: One Simple Rule... No Romance with a Greek Man Summary: 5 Stars
The Greek Rule is a story about a Greek American woman named Athena Lakis, who is doing what she can to make her dreams come true--on her own terms. She aspires to build and operate a sea-side resort in Greece, and wants the show the world that she can do it without her two older brothers coming to her rescue. Thankfully, everything seems to be falling into place. She has the experience, the financial means, a reputable company backing her, and has now found the prime location for her endeavor. All she has to do is win the bid for the land.
There is only one problem. She is bidding against DDGC... Drop Dead Gorgeous Competition.
Greek playboy Alexandros Strintzaris is not only extremely charming, but wealthy, powerful, and has a reputation for always getting what he wants. Known for his ruthlessness in business, he has set his sites on more than just winning the land bid... he wants Athena as well. Though she thwarts his advances at every turn, he is undaunted. She can try to run, she can try to hide, but he refuses to let her ignore the growing attraction between them. He might be Greek, but he's going to make her see that business as nothing to do with pleasure, and that some rules are meant to be broken.
What Alexandros doesn't realize is that Athena is not working for the competition. She IS the competition. Will this change the way he feels?
You'll have to read this fabulous book to find out.
Author Aleka Nakis has done it again! Much like her first book, Eyes of the Dead, the author paints pictures with her words and transports the reader (yet again) to another exotic locale... This trip takes us to the island of Santorini. Through the eyes of Athena, we get to explore this beautiful island while enjoying a sizzling romantic tale. What I also love is that Ms. Nakis, who's Greek American herself, takes the time to give the reader honest glimpses of Greek family customs and traditions, and shares aspects of her native culture (descriptions of local food, tidbits of history, references to mythology, etc.) She flawlessly weaves all these things into her story without bogging it down.
If her book doesn't get you to plan your next vacation in Greece, then I recommend that you stop by The Greek Rule MySpace page (www.myspace.com/greekrule) so you can thumb through her pictures of Santorini and see what you'd be missing.
I just hope there are more books like this to come. The author hints, via references to Athena's eligible brothers and a wonderful excerpt from an upcoming book called "The Summer Deal", that we might be hearing more about the Lakis siblings in the near future.
