Book Reviews of The Halloween ManBook Review: Best Horror Summary: 5 Stars
I loved Halloween Man. From the opening to the very end, the suspense was great. I read three other Clegg books, but this is the best so far. A guy takes a boy who may or may not be some sort of monster child back to the coastal town where he grew up to possibly kill him. But the story grows into this entire history of the town and just how dark the kid's nature may be. the horror just built and built and built, and then it explodes so that the last 100 pages flew by. You bet this story has heart, which makes it great. It's not just scares and shocks, although its full of those too. Halloween Man is about finding out how to be human in the midst of horror and fear. I look forward to the authors next novel, You Come When I Call.
Book Review: Brilliant and Terrifying Summary: 5 Stars
Douglas Clegg has quickly become my favorite novelist -- especially for brilliant storytelling and dark chills. I bought The Halloween Man several weeks ago and put it behind the paperback of Stephen King's Bag of Bones (which I also loved!) Then I picked up The Halloween Man and from its opening I was hooked. This is a big sprawling epic novel that is all about character and insight -- and horror! It's scary without being brutal, and shocking without being crude. I really loved this book and now I'm off to order Nightmare Chronicles and The Childrens Hour. Clegg you made a fan out of me.
Book Review: CLEGG IS UP THERE WITH THE VERY BEST Summary: 5 Stars
The moment I opened "The Halloween Man" I couldn't put it down. The story leaves you in suspense as you turn each page. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story, told by an amaziing storyteller.Keep em' coming Clegg Tom K.
Book Review: Call me crazy, but..... Summary: 2 Stars
I just plain 'ol didn't like the book. After finishing the last page, I couldn't help but sit back and say, "huh?" I thought the story was slow, filled with insufficient explanations and didn't really keep my interest. I was looking forward to this book, seeing many references to King and Straub in reviews, and after reading it thought, he's got nothing on those guys. Give me a King, Straub or Rice novel any day.
Book Review: Can't Wait! Summary: 5 Stars
I read this in unbound galleys, and it is truly amazing. I can't wait for The Halloween Man to hit the stores so other horror lovers can see what it's all about. It is the most terrifying and terrific book I've read in years. Reminded me of McCammon meets Barker, but Clegg has that really original voice. Horror lovers, get this one!
