Book Reviews of The Handmaid's Tale (Contemporary classics)Book Review: disturbing! Summary: 5 StarsI couldn't decide whether to give it 5 stars or 1 star for how chilling and disturbing the book was. Margaret Atwood paints a very bleak picture of what "could" happen in the near future. It really makes you appreciate the freedom that you have as a human being. At one point I almost put the book down because it was so disturbing, but I had to know how it ended! Definetely worth reading, but not something I would reread anytime soon...I find myself still thinking about it and wonder what happened to the various characters.
Book Review: Incredible Summary: 5 StarsWithout doubt, one of the best books I have ever read. Chilling, though-provoking and above all, only too likely.
Book Review: Haunting, disturing, wonderful Summary: 5 StarsFor some reason I started this book not expecting to like it. I was completely wrong. It's wonderful in every way - apart from the horrible and yet all too plausible vision of the future. I also take it to be a comment on the place of women in society today. It is also a book I really couldn't put down.
Book Review: A look into the future Summary: 3 StarsI found this book hard to get into but once I did I found it a good perception of what is very likely to happen. Or perhaps the other way round with the mens only use is to breed. The characters are well developed and the plot unflods well in stages.
Book Review: Chilling, Thrilling, Intriguing and intesnse Summary: 5 StarsWow, I couldnt put it down, not only that I passed it to everyone I knew and they all loved it, even the hubby with the most particular reading tastes ever! A shock to the system of what could so easily happen. This book literally drags you into the plot and turns what could be acompletely unbelievable into a gripping futuristic novel that makes you shiver. The amount of depth and description and obvious thought that has gone into this novel to make it plausible is teriffic. Overall an excellent read.
