Book Reviews of The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star

Book Review: very interesting book
Summary: 5 Stars

very good book! Its amazing what this man went through and is still alive to tell the story about it.Its amazing you could do that many drugs and still be alive. Nikki Sixx is an amazing person. I couldn't keep it down. I just loved it!

Book Review: I was shocked by review title Buy This Book
Summary: 1 Stars

Seems that person was proud to have been already in recovery himself.
The book and or that lifestyle is nothing to as I felt that reviewer did
at least if not brag about similar problems and as if he was thrilled to
copy deadly habits! I was in a band and would never of wanted to relate
such abuse or be proud or brag as he, the reviewer, sounded to "follow the leader" so to speak! Sad book and admitted the damage but nothing to be proud of. And certainly, I would hope NiKKi Sixx would agree that he would not want his fans to live such self debasing and life threating habits. Be responsible for your decisions and concious of your choices to avoid becoming powerless over your self control. Again, I say I do not believe that was the books intention at all to hear a new musician was proud of or relating to it as maybe cool already to have been in recovery and reviewer... ( Hope you do not read again)
Rock and Roll careers certainly does not a drug addict make! That is a personal decision and a problem wide spread. Good Luck. Your review made me want to give o stars!

Book Review: Impressive
Summary: 4 Stars

Much like a movie that continues to linger in the minds of the viewers for days, Heroin Diaries grips you from the first page and refuses to let go.

The diary entries in this book haunted me for days. Sixx's use of words and prose, even in the midst of depression and drug-induced paranoia, is eloquent and rivetting. As much as I detested and was horrified by the actions of the author as described in his diary entries, I found myself longing for resolution and health for him (it amazes me how this is so relative - readers will find themselves "rooting" for the person whose actions and thoughts were so vile).

I would recommend this book for those who enjoy biographical literature, although would caution younger readers for explicit and sexual content and language. Illustrations are graphic and appropriately bolster the content.

After reading this book, I also recommend the accompanying soundtrack by Sixx AM.

Book Review: If you liked "The Dirt", you'll love this....
Summary: 5 Stars

Great book - you live the nightmare that was Nikki's life during the heroin days of 80's Motley Crue. If you happened to read "The Dirt" then this is a must have. The books are similar in style. There are several guest writers that show up to give their version of excerpts from Nikki's crazed herion diaries. Nikki also interprets several of the excerpts so you can better understand where he was coming from today. Simply excellent and brutally honest. Drugs are portrayed as an evil in Nikki's life that it took several attempts to kick.

Book Review: buy this book
Summary: 5 Stars

i just love this book. i have been a fan of the crue and of nikki sixx for a long time now. i am also a guitarist/musician who has been in and out of recovery for the past 3 years, but ive recently decided to give recovery another try. being a musician this book was very insightful on the trappings of addiction within the music industry. wheather your a musician dealing with addiction or not, buy this book. i think ill go read it again......rmb.....xxx.....
