Book Reviews of The Host: A NovelBook Review: The Host review Summary: 4 StarsI bought this purely because it was by Stephenie Meyer, and i'm a huge fan of the Twilight series. I'm not at all a sci fi fan, but i still ended up loving The Host. It has the same developed characterization and informal writing style as the Twilight Saga, but with an all new plot that's almost as interesting. Definitely a must read!
Book Review: the host Summary: 5 Starsi picked up this book purely because it was written by stephenie meyer, the fantastic author of the twilight series.
and i was a little worried when the first few chapters reminded me of every body snatching movie i'd ever seen, especially the invasion with nicole kidman which was pretty much the same story.
however i loved this book for it's fantastic plot, characters and the sense of hope present throughout.
it progressed into something completely it's own which was unlike any other story i had ever read.
i was amazed to find myself not only liking sci-fi but unable to put the book down for more than a moment before i was picking it up again, delving back into wanda and melanie's story.
i read on s. meyer's website that her publicist couldn't decide if she liked the host or twilight the best.
which i must say made me think she was mad, but she's right. the stories are completely different but the writing style is so similar and the characters are so amazing that i myself am finding it hard to decide also.
read this book any way you can!!! you won't regret it!!!
Book Review: fantastic Summary: 5 StarsThis is a great book and not just for adults!!! i have to say i am a bit puzzled as to why its not classifed as a YA book. The charecters are really the driving force behind this story they are so beleiveable!
Stephanies beloved descriptive prose catches my breath at its brillience and sentimentality.
Somehow in this book I am unsure who the monsters are the humans or the Aliens.
Read it! even if you dont like sci-fi this book is not really about the science its more about the qualities that we posess as humans.
Book Review: hate sci fi - love the host! Summary: 5 Starsthe characters and emotions are so beautifuly decsribed, you become part of the book.
the storyline is brilliant and unpredicatble, very emotional too.
i was worried it would have the same feel as the twilight series, but it is a whole new story, and the only similarity between the books is the way you cant put them down!! (seriously... im pretty sleep deprived right now!)
Steph.. you've done it again!
Book Review: Stephenie does it again... Summary: 5 StarsOnce again, Stephenie Meyer has written an amazing, compelling novel for adults and teenagers alike.
Even though it's marketed as an adult book, it's suitable for the YA audience, as well.
The characters are exactly what we've come to expect from Stephenie: they're realistic, compassionate and, ultimately, driven by love in all forms.
The love triangle involving only two bodies is a new and exciting idea, which really draws you into the story, and adds the romance to this sci-fi novel.
It's nowhere near as good as The Twilight Saga (but, then again, what is!?), though I've still given it 5 stars. I couldn't put it down.
Every fan of Twilight or Stephenie Meyer should go and buy this book - then lend it to your daughter or your Mother. It's perfect for everyone.
