Book Reviews of The Host: A Novel

Book Review: "Body and Soul" - it will wrap you in
Summary: 5 Stars

Books have wrapped me into themselves before. But some how this book was the ultimate. I have never actually cried while reading a book. During the 3rd to the last chapter, I cried and yearned for what Wanda was feeling. At that moment, I was so mad at Stephenie for writing a book that would end with sadness. I love how this author tries to surprise the reader, as with her Twilight books (preludes, pages blank, etc.). I was pesimistic that 2 chapters could make me feel better about Wanda's feelings. I was so wrong. I again cried at the end of the very last chapter. I have goosebumps right now, as I am writing this. You will not be dissapointed.

As far as the reviewers who said the beginning was slow, I disagree. Every page, every chapter was full and encouraging. I expected this book to be good, but it surpassed my expectations.

Thank you again Stephenie for a wonderful book.

Book Review: "The Host" is a page turner - Excellent Work of Fiction
Summary: 5 Stars

Stephanie Meyer has done an excellent job on this novel. She has broken away from her Vampire series with an adult novel that kept me involved to the very end.

I have enjoyed her vampire series even though I'm a 50+ year old male. I have no reluctance in sharing my enthusiasm for this book with my friends, family, and peers. (I was always a little embarrassed to admit that I liked the vampire series.)

The story has a great plot, excellent character development, as well as realistic evolution of characters through the course of the novel.

It was excellent and would make a pretty cool movie, if Hollywood would keep it as clean and morally tense as Stephanie wrote it.

Keep writing Stephanie! Go Cougars!

Summary: 4 Stars

Stephenie Meyer doesn't disappoint the reader in this creative SciFi story of alien creatures taking over Earth. As with her other works (Twilight Saga), it is difficult to put the book down once you have begun to read it. This story is very different from her vampire tale and shows diversity in her story telling. Is it better than Twilight as some people say? Well, I guess that depends on the reader. I would say read both for thorough enjoyment. JZ

bought this book at my teenage daughters urging for her. She loved it as she does with all the novels by this auther.

Book Review: *Invasion of the Body Snatchers*, the book
Summary: 4 Stars

She can write, that is for sure! While neither the _Twilight_ series or this are particularly original, she does create nice, wholesome characters. I don't know why this is particularly aimed at adults - very little violence, no sex, no swearing - it was entertaining. While it was, simply, another version of _Invasion of the Body Snatchers_, the P.O.V. was interesting and it added elements of characters that made it a lively and fun book. I am glad that I bought and I certainly enjoyed read it. I would hesitantly recommend it, though I will continue to read her work.
