Book Review: The House Of the Scorpion.
Summary: 4 Stars
.... The book is aimed at children,but I would say that 15+ would be the minium age as the language used is very adult.The book starts with a 'family tree' which was actually quite complicated and didn't aid my understanding of the plot.Having said that though the book itself did not disappoint.The story is set in the Mexico of the future where powerful and rich men are creating clones of themselves who will be able to take over and run the family drug business when they themselves die.The central character is a boy called Matt Who is unaware that he is the clone of a very powerful man indeed until he meets Maria ,the daughter of a senior US politician.In her he finds an unlikely ally and together they embark on a sometimes terrifying adventure with devestating consequences.
This book had me gripped from start to finish and I would recommend it to both science fiction fans ,and those of you who enjoy a gripping adventure story
