Book Reviews of The Human Body Book (Book & DVD)

Book Review: Great resource for anatomy and physiology
Summary: 5 Stars

The Human Body Book
My daughter's anatomy and physiology professor recommended this book as a resource to supplement the text. It's a great source if you are pursuing a medical profession.

Book Review: Awesome book
Summary: 5 Stars

The best book of human anatomy I have ever seen. Very simple yet descriptive!
It is a pleasure to read and look at. Unbelievable 3D on video which is included. You will love it.

Book Review: Beautifully Illustrated
Summary: 4 Stars

I originally saw this book on one of the tables at Borders when it first came out a few months ago. I didn't purchase it then because the full price was around $40. Luckily, I checked Amazon and they had it one sale for around $23. It was a great price for a beautifully illustrated and informational book. The entirety is filled with maps, charts, and diagrams of the human body as you would likely find in a doctor's office. I've learned a lot from it, yet there were a couple mistake that were apparent, such as: a pie chart that was mislabeled in that 3 of the percentages were mixed up (a larger portion had a smaller amount, etc.). Other than that small mistake, it has been wonderful.

Book Review: Wish I had checked first on Amazon!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was so excited when I was accepted into LPN school I rushed right out to buy some books to prepare me for what lied ahead and I am so glad I purchased this book. It has helped me visualize all the body systems better than my Anatomy and Physiology books did and the DVD is amazing. There are 4 videos to watch as well as interactive body systems. I encourage this book everyone who wants to learn more about the body. Just make sure you buy it here, not at a book store! I over paid alot!

Book Review: Not pleased, nor too happy either.
Summary: 1 Stars

The description of the book does not fully cover its limited abilities.
Years ago I purchased a similar book with see through pages, transparent so that you could see the front of the body anatomy, and on the back of the same transparent page you could see additional structue. I bought that old book from a young man selling books door to door one summer, he was a University of South Carolina student earning money for school. Our family wore it out over 50+ years. It was a wonderful old book.

The recent purchase of this NEW body book is way too big to handle easily for an olde lady. Young children will have a problem too. You cannot hold it comfortably. It is so heavy, that I have not - nor will I take the time to pack it up and return it for a refund, my being old has its physical limitations.

Right now it is propped up leaning on my fireplace hearth. As a coffee table book, it takes up the entire table, and does not fit on my built in bookshelves.

Content is not up to snuff either imop. The plastic cover is not that big of a deal either, I think a heavy truck could not destroy the structure of this book, by running over it.

My old and loved book, did not have an extra cover. The book was about 2 1/2" inches thick, and about 8 1/2" X 11" in comfortable reading size. The illustrations were wonderful and the content was even better. Not much has changed with the structure of the human body in the 75 years I have been living. Can't judge a book by its cover anymore.
