Book Review: The Hunger-beautiful and haunting.

Well...what can I say. Love him or loathe him Whitley Streiber has created a masterpiece. Beautifull, haunting, dreamy, classic, erotic, words are hard to come by to describe this book. The Hunger is the story of an ancient vampire who cannot live without a companion who has loved and lost on many occasion. If you loved the film then you will find the book engrossing to the point that you forget reality. For most people the ending in the film is rather odd and unclear. This was intentional to make you curious and to make you think. Read the book and all will become crystal clear. When first published the book was not recieved too well despite its brilliance, it was only with the release of the film that Whitley finally gained some recognition for his work. If you have not read it already I reccomend ray garton's Live Girls. Very similar in content and its modern feel though it is rather hard to find these days. Overall this is a great story and one any horror and vampire fan should add to his or her collection straight away. Go and buy the soundtrack, pour yourself a glass of wine and transport yourself into another world of classical music, love, immortality, decadence, and sensual beauty.
