Even if you haven't read "Slash" the precursor to "The Hunger" you can enjoy the trip the author takes into the main character's insanity. Billy Mann is guy that is hard to like, he is hard to understand and he can make you cringe. Of course, he's a sociopath so he isn't trying to be the reader's friend. This book leaves off where the first one ends (or a bit after actually) and gives us some background into Billy and what made him the monster he is today. It also introduces a his potential savior in the form a doctor at the institution he has been thrown into, will she figure him out or be sucked in by this devilish ways? I won't give away answer, but it is an interesting story of love, lunacy and revenge.
