Book Reviews of The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club: True Tales from a Magnificent and Clumsy Life

Book Review: Hillariously funny and impossible to put down!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Idiot Girls' Action Adventure Club was recommended to me by Amazon.com, and I have to say that I absolutely loved it! The book is actually a collection of short essays, and star Laurie Notaro, the heavy drinker and smoker who tells of her exploits with candor and a sense of humor. And along the way, she's able to laugh at, and with, herself. The essays can be read alone, but they work best when they're read in the order in which they're presented. I loved the essay about her attending her high school reunion, and the one where she explains oral sex to her 82-year-old grandmother.

Although not very well written (sometimes Notaro sounds as though she's in middle school), The Idiots Girls' Action Adventure Club was a quick read (I read it in one day) and had me laughing so hard that people walking by would ask, "what are you reading?" I can't wait to read the rest of Notaro's books. I also recommend Bitter is the New Black, by Jen Lancaster.

Book Review: Horrible
Summary: 1 Stars

Not funny, dull and badly written - I really tried to like/finish this book as it was the only reading matter I brought with me on a long trip. Awful tedious writing. How did this get published? I donated it to goodwill when I got back home. I have always doubted it when people say they donated something...but now I don't - because that is what I did. Someone will likely pay a quarter for it and get to be annoyed as well - but cheaply.

Book Review: The Idiot Girls'
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far the best book by Laurie. It is so funny. My favorite story in the book is about Laurie and the candy-apple...I read this book a couple of years ago, and when ever I see a candy-apple I think of Laurie, and it makes me laugh!!

Book Review: Hilarious
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I read Laurie Notaro aloud to each other and laugh our faces off. This and all the others. If you shy away from toilet humor, keep walkin'. As a guy, some of the stories were uncomfortable, but I can laugh at my own discomfort.

Book Review: Awesome!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Laurie's books never fail to make me laugh. I can relate to so many of the tales that she shares. I'm always waiting for new books to come out, b/c I can read them and re-read them time and again. I've given this book to numerous friends and they are all hooked now. If you like sarcasm, you'll love Notaro!
