Book Reviews of The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club: True Tales from a Magnificent and Clumsy Life

Book Review: Fantastic, funny lift-me-up
Summary: 5 Stars

Either you're going to "get" this book or you're not--the people who can't relate never will and I am puzzled why they would even try--the cover and the back copy says it all. This book is about a good-time girl and her wild friends having silly escapades in their 20's and regretting nothing in the morning. It's hilarious, relateable everywoman tales from accidentally setting a date's crotch on fire to a marvelous rant about the frustrating creatures that are men to a tortuous day at jury duty. It's about having a good time in your youth because we all know those days are far too fleeting--but the people who stayed home and studied, Watched Golden Girls on a Friday night and concentrated more heavily on their credit score than on what to do on a weekend night are never going to get this. This is about being young, making mistakes and laughing about them. There is nothing wrong with silliness. WE don't get to be silly for very long. I loved this book, it made me laugh when I was in a foul mood, it was an easy, fast read and it can cure and end-of-the-day depression. Five thumbs up for the Idiot girls, and for Notaro for sharing these stories.

Book Review: Horrid!
Summary: 1 Stars

I am so sorry I put down money for this thing. I scarcly would call it a book as it is more in line with one long drunkalogue. Notaro's effort is sad as she attempts to cash in on puking and smoking. To her credit she is clever at turning a phrase but the content of her work leaves one feeling revolted rather than amused. I really wish she had focused her talent more wisely.

Book Review: A little disappointing...
Summary: 3 Stars

Cute but not great. A little too self-depracating. I didn't pass it along to my friends.

Book Review: Hilarious and TRUTHFUL!
Summary: 5 Stars

So many times you read these funny books and can't associate whatsoever. Not so with this quick and fun read. As you read through, you are laughing so hard and at that same time thinking, "Oh god that happened to [me, my friend, my sister, fill in blank here]".

I am now waiting for my shipment of her other books, and looking forward to The Idiot's Christmas. Also look for Erika Lopez's Flaming Iquanas, Notaro's fans would really like that as well.

Book Review: Hooray for Idiot Girls everywhere!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book made me laugh out loud so many times in a silent class people looked at me like I was insane. But it was worth it. Laurie Notaro expresses every thought women have at one point or another. I have read her first four books and they never disappoint. I felt mnay times as I read like she was channeling my thoughts and opinions.

Idiot Girls are all over the place. We just need to find eachother. Because in the words of Notaro, "we shall rule the world someday."

If you are a woman, BUY THIS BOOK. You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it.
