Book Reviews of The InnocentBook Review: Another Great Suspense Novel Summary: 5 Stars
This man never ceases to amaze me. I have read Coben's last 3 novels before this one, and with all of them, I finished in less than 2 days. I could not put this book down. It took me one day to complete, and I was so upset to be finished with it. From the first line, I was hooked and I was always anxious to pick the book back up when I had to put it down. The characters in the book are enthralling and the plot is so thick you couldn't stir it up anymore with an iron spoon. A few of the twists were anticipated, but the book is so interesting that it doesn't matter if you figured one or two things out. Coben is a great entertainer and as long as he keeps writing like this, I'll keep buying his novels. I HIGHLY recommend this book to all Thriller fans.
Book Review: Another Winner from Coben Summary: 4 Stars
I think that it is safe to say that Harlan Coben is one of the best suspense writers of our time, and obviously as a winner of the Edgar, Shamus and Anthony awards I am not the only one who thinks so. In his latest novel `THE INNOCENT' we are introduced to Matthew Hunter a man who, because of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, spent four years of his life in a maximum-security prison for murder. Nine years later he is happily married to a beautiful woman named Olivia and they are expecting their first child. Finally Matt is beginning to let go of his past and look forward to his future with Olivia until he receives pictures on his camera phone that are meant to lead him to believe that his wife is having an affair. But as we know with any book written by Coben things aren't always what they seem. As Matt searches for clues as to why these pictures of his wife in a hotel room with another man were sent to him his life begins to spiral out of control and his past mistakes as well as the mistakes of others come back to haunt him. Because once you are an ex-con no one ever looks at you the same and as the body count begins to rise all suspicions are directed toward one Matthew Hunter.
`THE INNOCENT' is non-stop action and will have you turning the pages so quickly your fingers will burn. Every character is strong and well developed and the story is thoroughly engrossing. So you may be wondering why with all of this high praise did I only give it 4 stars? Well, while I knew to expect Coben's signature twist at the end, I thought that maybe there was just one twist to many in this ending. Just as in Coben's previous thriller `JUST ONE LOOK' I thought that the ending got a little complicated, but overall I loved this book just as I do all books Harlan Coben. I am sure that you will not be disappointed with this latest by Coben whether you are a long time fan or a first time reader, 4 ½ stars!
Book Review: Another Winner! Summary: 5 Stars
Harlan Coben continues to put forth excellent, readable novels. His current offering features Matt Hunter, an ex-con paralegal who seems to have rebounded from his past which included an accidental murder that landed him in prison. He has a beautiful wife who is expecting their first child and is in the process of buying a house.
Things take a turn for the worse in a hurry when Matt gets a video on his cellular phone that leads him to believe that his wife is not all she seems to be. Throw in the murder of a nun, the F.B.I. and local law enforcement, and some unwanted out-of-town company and you have all the makings of a fast paced work of interesting fiction.
Keep 'em coming, Harlan.
PS Please bring Myron back!
Book Review: Another great novel Summary: 5 Stars
Harlen Coben is quickly turning into one of my favorite mystery/suspense authors. He never fails to surprise me with his books. I stumbled across him a few months ago, and although I do not recommend his early stuff, every one of his newer books are definite page turners. If you enjoy mysteries he should be on your "must read" list.
Book Review: Another great one by Coben Summary: 5 Stars
This book follows the typical Coben formula, a regular guy who gets falsly accused of a crime and his fight to save his family and clear himself. As usual, this is a complicated novel with many twists. I listened to this one on CD, and I recommend reading most of Coben's books so that it can sink in a little better. I found myself getting lost listening to it on CD. Coben's books are so complex and intricate that you really need to pay attention to every detail. I almost feel like taking notes so that I dont miss anything! Overall, another satisfying triller from the master.
