Book Review: "Can Drown A Boy Who Thinks He Knows More Than God Because He Reads Books"
Summary: 5 Stars
Enjoyed this book immensely. Not only as the story captivating, but the historical background of Trotsky, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and the fear of Communism in American culture circa 1950's was really very interesting. Further, I'm not sure if this was mentioned in another review, but the first half of this book was actually very funny at times. The young Harrison Shepard had a dry wit about him that often made me laugh--as did the character of Frida Kahlo. Unfortunately, as the book progressed, the story became more somber and Shepard's humor seemed to disappear. This slowed down the reading a bit, but nonetheless, was a great story and a book I'll not forget.
