Book Reviews of The Last Unicorn: (40th Anniversary Edition)Book Review: A book to read many times Summary: 5 StarsI reread this book over and over growing up. The language is unique, verging on poetry. The image of the last unicorn, who can be loved but not saved, stuck with me as a girl. She showed me how sometimes you have to act alone, in spite of consequences, for the best to happen.
Book Review: A Magnificent Fairy Tale For All Ages Summary: 5 StarsAfter watching the movie quite a few times, I decided it was time to read the book. So I did, and at first I didn't like it too terribly well, but after reading it again and seriously taking a good look at it, I loved it. The author writes with a rather unusual style, but that's what makes this book so unique. I love unicorns (I've always been a bit of a fantasy fan), and this is one of the best books about them that you can find on the shelf. Sure, there are a few thematic elements here and there that I could have done without, and there is a bit of cussing from time to time, but the story itself makes this product a keeper. If you haven't read this book yet, I highly recommend that you do so.
Book Review: Interesting Summary: 4 StarsWell, I don't really consider myself a fantasy/sci-fi lover--although, Stephen King is my favorite writer--but his stories are just..different. Anyways, I was EXTREMELY worried about this book that I had to read for class. I was hesitant..because, cmon--unicorns AND talking animals?!
Yet, this story was actually pretty darn good! I recommend it!
Book Review: One of the most beautiful books ever written Summary: 5 StarsThis book was recommended to my English class by my English teacher as a 'brilliant' book. I thought that I'd go ahead and read it, even though it was a children's book. Upon reading it, I was shocked by not only the simplistic brilliance, but by the language in which this book is written. Even though I'm only 16, I've read many books, and few have entranced me like this one. From the first page the author uses his art of writing to create one of the most timeless books in history.
Book Review: still the best Summary: 4 StarsWhen Harry Potter was less than a blot in space, the last unicorn was munching grass in her enchanted forest... and Mr. P. Beagle was writing literature that was indeed magical and not, as critics would have it, a subgenre... children's literature should always be as beautiful as this.
