Book Reviews of The Last Unicorn

Book Review: i love the movie AND the book
Summary: 5 Stars

ever since i was 4 years old...i'd always rent 'the last unicorn' when we'd go out to rent movies...then on my 15th b-day my mom bought the movie by luck(theres only a couple hundred copies) so i decided that i should finally read the book...i did and i love it! this story has been a favorite for almost my entire life...he's a genius

Book Review: i love this book so much
Summary: 5 Stars

I do not even know how many times i have read this book by now. It captures timeless fantasy without being merely for children. It doesn't seem to matter how many times i read it i still love it and always seem to find myself thinking of something differently than before. The story holds a magic to it that is rare these days. Some fantasy tales seem to have a cheap action edge to them but that is not present with this one. It's not that it's boring, there just doesn't seem to be anything cheap about it. All in all, a beautiful story that i would recomend to anyone.

Book Review: it's a beautiful story
Summary: 5 Stars

I have never read the book. I've been trying to order and buy it for the last year, only to find it is out of print and may not be printed again. I'm very upset, because since I first saw the animated movie at age 3, I've loved the story. If anyone can help me, it would be most appreciated.

luv izza

Book Review: ladder to the last unicorn
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not typically a fan of science fiction or fantasy. Generally I think this plane offers enough material for me in my quest for readables. This book however, is a delectable indulgent, lonely, beautiful experience. It took me years of reading between the lines of the movie before i finally opted to open the book and I was predictably smitten with the prose form. Within the book i found a thousand treasure troves of what i had loved and sought after from the film through childhood and adolescence. Each familiar character and scene commands new evaluation in the book. There are many scenes and subtexts and sensations not present in the film which I now deem essential parts of the whole. I recommend slow digestion with a calm mind and a willing heart. its a book worth committing to for a deeper understanding of that other plane so rarely glimpsed.

Book Review: lyrically written with little substance
Summary: 3 Stars

The last unicorn, a beautiful and powerful immortal creature far removed from humanity, journeys to discover where her people have disappeared. She meets up with an incompetent magician, Schmendrick, and a hard old woman, Molly, who go with her to King Haggard's castle where the Red Bull has captured the unicorns. A beautifully written and imaginative fairy tale (the details of the unicorn's character and style is utterly enchanting) that is more style than substance. Perhaps seeing the movie first ruined it for me. Grade: B
