Book Reviews of The Leadership Challenge, 4th EditionBook Review: Discouraging Summary: 1 StarsI found The Leadership Challenge to be quite bland, and a repackaging of other texts on the subject. It was a book that could have been reduced to a pamphlet, and even then there would have been nothing original other than the anecdotal stories - ad nauseum - that were of little interest. Basically, any Fred, Tom or Katie that lifted a finger for a co-worker got inserted into the text, and enabled the authors to cite yet again the "thousands of case studies" they have conducted in the last 25 years. Save your money and photocopy the Table of Contents. You will still get the jist of the entire book. Trust me, you're only packing their wallets and this book will wind up in the landfill.
If you're looking for something a little more inspirational and original, try Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Better yet, read a biography of someone you admire. Gandhi is a great choice.
Book Review: As Leaders Knowing We Are All Connected Is Important Summary: 5 StarsAs CEO Coach, Poet and author of a leadership book that helps leaders unleash their genis, the genius of teams and the genius of corporations, I have found the teachings of this book foundational to my work. It uncovers how to connect to people in a hart felt way while leading them on missions. Good book. Paul David Walker Unleashing Genius: Leading Yourself, Teams and Corporations
Book Review: Good support!! Summary: 5 StarsThis is definately for the those in leadership role that requires guidance in successfully leading their team!!
Book Review: Outstanding... Summary: 5 StarsI truly appreciate the great lengths the authors went to in favoring factually based research as opposed to just citing conventional business theory. I also liked how the impact of leadership was assessed throughout the enterprise regardless of position or title. In my book Leadership Matters...The CEO Survival Manual: WHAT IT TAKES TO REACH THE C-SUITE AND STAY THERE I focused solely on the CEO and/or entrepreneur, but as we all know great companies develop leaders throughout the organizational chart.
Book Review: great book on leadership Summary: 5 StarsThis is one of the best books I've ever read on leadership. What makes it so great is the practical steps that it outlines you can take to develop your leadership skills. I highly recommend this book to... well everybody.
