Book Review: Mets Fan & Teacher -- HUGE Fan of This Book
Summary: 5 Stars

I started reading this book because it's on the book list at my high school and I thought it would be "high interest" reading material. The thing is, I can't put it down because of my own high interest. Jeter comes off as arrogant, yes, but he states that his own inner arrogance is absolutely essential to his success. As I move through the chapters, I have moved from realizing that a lot of his success comes from his work ethic, high aspirations, and dedication, not just from some innate talent. I have found his advice about how to pursue your dreams inspirational, and I have been applying his principles to my teaching -- particularly his advice to aim high. If your goal is to just get by, you will. If your goal is to do something great, you will. Already, I have found this to be transformational. I will start teaching this book next week, and I hope my students will find it as inspiring as I have. I am also going to buy it for my brother -- who is graduating from high school -- and give it to him as a gift.

Jeter, Derek & Curry, Jack. The Life You Imagine. New York: Scholastic,
2000.279 pages.
This book would have to be the best book that I have read this year of all
the books that we had read. Being a sports fan, this book kept me
interested throughout the whole book. Even though I am a huge Los Angeles
Dodger fan I still have respect for other great teams and their players.
While reading this book I learned the other side of being a sports athlete.
I got to read of all the other famous and unique people they get to meet or
come in contact with. For example, Derek says "I had the time of my life
dating Mariah Carey." I even had the pleasure of finding out how Derek made
it to the major leagues. I was also able to find out Derek child-hood
oppression of one day becoming a major league baseball player. This book
would be great for anyone who is a sports fan. Even if you don't like
sports you will enjoy the many different stories they have to tell.

The novel The life you imagine is written by Jack Curry. This was a very motivational book. The reason I think this book is motivational is because one of the chapter titles is "Set your goals high". In this chapter he talks about how you should set goals that seem impossible but aren't. Then another chapter was " Finding role models" this is important because if you have a bad role model you are most likely to be bad when you grow up. So he told us how to find the best role models. The age group I would recommend this book for is 12 to 16 years. If you are a sports fan and like the Yankees this is the book for you. I really enjoyed this book.

Book Review: My favorite book of all time..
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm about to read this book for the third time and I'm sure I'll love it just as much as the last. Reading this book always refreshes my outlook on life, it makes me see things in a more positive life. Jeter not only shines on the field, but off the field as well. He is one person that I will look up to for the rest of my life.

This looked like just the thing for my step-grandson, who loves Derek Jeter and who needs inspiration. However, it turned out he already had the book. I can't comment on the book, as I didn't read it.
