Book Review: Simply the best children's book ever written Summary: 5 Stars
I've only read this book once in my college library, but I plan to get buy it soon for keeps. Everything about this book is incredible... the atmosphere, the imagination, the wisdom, and how thought-provoking it is. I wish I could remember more about it. The book was so surreal it was hard to remember everything about it. It's the kind of book you could read over and over and still be in awe of every time.I became curious about this book after I read the book "One Child" by Torey Hayden, a true story about a six-year-old girl named Sheila, in a class taught by Torey Hayden, who is troubled and abused (but not autistic like the official synopsis says), but turns out to be a genius. "The Little Prince" was her favorite book. One Child is my own favorite book of all time, and I am certain almost anybody who's read and liked "The Little Prince" will love "One Child".
Book Review: So precious the heavens must have created him Summary: 5 Stars
Unlike many of the reviewers I am older, almost as old as the Prince himself. I have read probably thousands of books in my lifetime, and yet only three books remain by my bedside to be read over and over again-The Bible, e.e.cummings and The Little Prince. The Little Prince is both the loveliest and saddest book I have ever read. Some may scoff, but we who are touched by the wisdom of an innocent child are the lucky ones. For no matter what prevails, we hear the laughter in the stars.
Book Review: Sowing the seeds of love Summary: 5 Stars
What Antoine De Saint-Exupery did in such a small tome was explain what is truly important in life. This alone is a daunting task that does not lend itself to brevity well. Mr. Antoine De Saint-Exupery pulled the whole affair off brilliantly. He also has time in those few pages to give us a realistic perspective on love. Like all great children's works this book works on two levels: surface and depth. On the surface it is an adorable story about a very demanding little man with enough curiosity in his tiny body to ask the questions that none of us dare to think out loud. Deeper in there are numerous veiled references to our own insecurities, the sadly hollow modern world and even death. I can see where some people might not get the point of The Little Prince. Personally, I would rather not know such people but just observe them from afar, like the Little Prince, as they spend very sad lifetimes concerned with matters of consequence. Simply The Little Prince shows us what really matters. I have found something completely different and wonderful everytime I have picked this book up to read it again. If the story of the rose does nothing for you I am sure there are books on war, finance and geography that might interest you or you might pick up the other book about a prince by Machiavelli. The rest of us will be looking at the stars and laughing because Antoine De Saint-Exupery has truly made them special to us in a way we will only know.
Book Review: THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH DISCOVERED Summary: 5 Stars
A former girlfriend gave me this book, something her father used to read to her when she was a child, just prior to her moving on both literally and figuratively. At the time, I was confused to find the message she was trying to convey but alas I think the genius comes from its many symbolisms. This book is sure to bring out many emotions but hopefully it will convince us never to leave the child in us behind. Think young; stay young. It was a great gift.
