Book Review: An enchanting fable - completely ''tamed'' me... Summary: 5 Stars
Antoine de Saint-Exupery's THE LITTLE PRINCE is one of the few books, along with J. M. Barrie's PETER PAN and Richard Adams' WATERSHIP DOWN, that will capture the hearts and minds of both children and adults. The existance of the prince is handled with more symbolism than realisim, so the story is difficult to film (althogh a few have attempted to do so).The illustrations have simplicity, beauty, and a magic all their own. Many of my favorite quotes are found in this book, such as ''Every thing essential is invisible to the eyes'',and ''you risk tears if you let yourself be tamed''...This is a beautiful book about what is truly inportant in life - spiritual matters rather than the physical ones.
Book Review: An outstanding book....deserves a spot in every houses bookshelf. Summary: 5 Stars
I can not get enough of this book, its outstanding writing of poetry captures Exupery's story perfectly. Exupery was born June, 29th 1900 and died on July 31st 1944.Exupery published this book in 1943 and it ended up to be this french man's best novel he would ever write. Over the years the book has had many translations and for that reason, it stands as one of the best selling books ever.
I have read this book ever since I was 8 years old and since I have put my eyes on this book, it's been one of my favorites. The little prince is the perfect character for the plot of journeying from planet to planet, not knowing what is going to happen next. Although the book is a great read, it is not a book for younger children, it is simply too complicated for younger kids to understand the true moral of the story. The Little Prince is an easy read for teenagers and above. Serving as one of the best stories in my opinion ever written, it is an easy classic for all.
Heart-wrenching and very emotional are the the emotions that hit me as I read this book. All the tiny planets represent little political points and lessons that are extremely interesting. The fox teaches a main lesson, of respect and that good things come with time. This lesson is a good lesson to learn, cherish and remember. The fox reminds the Little Prince of why his little rose is so important to him. This brought me back to when my grandfather died. Ever since I was out of the womb he was there for me, hogging me from the rest of the family and until he died, nothing ever pulled us apart. The Little Prince helps every person realize simple lessons of life.
Overall, the book is very emotional and deserves utter respect and a place in every house's bookshelf. I recommend this book to everyone and give it a perfect rating. I hope to see this book as a must-read in high schools in the future. Every person should have a chance to read this book and experience the same enjoyment and pleasure as I have. I would have to disagree with Alan F. who stated "The book actually highlights the dogmatism of children." I absolutely disagree with this comment made by Alan. This book is not projected as a distrusting book or guide on children not trusting adults. The book does not state that children are superior. The book tells a story of how no one understands this poor kid and only kids understand other kids.
Book Review: Awesome as a gift, for your classic literature collection, and for children Summary: 5 Stars
Le petit prince is my favorite book... both in fernch and in english! It captures the heart of innocence and teaches valuable moral lessons. The book is versatile- great for kids and great for adults.
Book Review: BEWARE! Summary: 1 Stars
We all know that reading a book should be something to look forward to. If youre reading The Little Prince, all that you want to do instead, is run away and scream of terror. Yesits truly that bad. Dont belive methen by all means, crack it open and read a few pagesyoull see. When this horrid book begins, its the narrarator, a grown-up pilot, is talking to the little freak child that claims that hes The Little Prince. They have a really boring converstation on Earth. Then, the prince goes back to his planet. Personally, I think that this kids mentally disturbed, seeing as how he talks to flowersand the flowers supposedly talk back. All that he does all day is rake out his mini-volcccanoes and stare at the sunset. Then he goes out to seek other peoplefinally! He meets, a drunkard, businessman, geographer, a King, snake, more flowers, and a few other wierdos. He was hoping to meet more imaginative people, but instead, all of these people were either stiffs or losers. The Little Prince decides that he doesnt want to grow up to be like them. He makes a decision that may have been too dramatic. He kills himself. Now really, would little kids actuallly decide on their own to kill themselves? I ranked this book as I did (with one star), because I despised it. It had poor grammar, an un-interesting plot, and when you read it, you dont get to know the characters in depth. The Little Prince is a boy that lives all by himself on a random planet. On this planet, he has only a few things: a flower, three volcanoes (one non-active), and a rake. He enjoys having conversations with flowers, raking out the volcanoes, and staring at the sunsets. I can see that the author was trying to go for a poetic and imaginative protagonist, but when it all came across, he was portrayed as someone that should be locked up in the phsych-ward. What makes this character unique is that Ive never read a book where the main character commits suicide. He was a drama king and I found that as somewhat intreguing. Though all of the scenes in the book break it, there are a specific two. One of these scenes, are when the little prince is talking to the narrorator in the beginning of the book. They were talking about things that had absolutely no effect on the book. Another scene would be when the little prince was having a conversation with the snake. Thisonce again had nothing to do with the plot or the developing of the characer. Those were just two of the numerous stupid things in the book. Now, why read a book with no voice, plott, or thrilling parts. Sound pointless? Well, it is. The type of reader thats recommended for this book is a lazy person thats just trying to find a quick-read for a book report. I strongly recommend not reading this sickening book. BEWARE.
